How to install a window seal?

Steigner seals are equipped with a simple application system or adhesive strips. Both variants allow for installation in a few simple steps without the possibility of  a mistake. However, be sure to observe a few rules during the installation:

  • Thoroughly clean the place where the seal is to be installed.
  • If the frame is wooden, gently sand the surface with sandpaper.
  • Do not wrap the door or window frame with one long section of the seal. Divide it into 4 fragments and lay it out segment by segment creating a corner. Then continue on with the rest of the seal. Repeat the procedure until you seal the entire frame.

Door seal is mounted in the same way as the window seal. A detailed description of assembly, is included with each package. You can also download it directly from the product page.

How to install a shower seal?

Make sure that the model you chose is compatible with your shower enclosure type and matches the thickness of the glass on which it will be installed. If the seal is too long, cut it with a knife.

  • Clean the installation area. It should be clean and dry.
  • Begin the installation by placing the seal exactly at the place where it should be because later it will be impossible to move it.
  • Gently push the seal onto the glass. You should hear a quiet click.
  • Make sure that the seal doesn’t make it difficult to open or close the door.

In the event of a problem with the application of a seal, apply a small amount of dish soap to the edge of the glass. If the seal type is too wide and falls off the glass after application, apply a thin layer of transparent silicone to the glass after which you should quickly install the seal. Remember to clean the seal and the place of installation regularly. All you have to do is take it off, wash it and put it on again.

How to install a barrier-free shower tray?

Open concept or barrier-free bathrooms are becoming a sophisticated yet simple bathroom solution. Steigner barrier-free shower trays do not require expert knowledge in the field of their installation. The sloped mortar bed or a prefabricated shower tray successfully eliminates the stage of pouring and profiling the floor and accelerates construction. A strong adhesive is needed for the installation, i.e. tile glue, which will secure the tray to the floor.

  • Recess a hole in the floor that will fit the shower tray.
  • Install the drain.
  • Install the barrier-free shower tray.
  • If you have a Mineral BASIC model, apply a waterproofing membrane to the shower tray.
  • Secure the places where the tray meets the wall using Steigner hydro isolation materials like waterproofing membrane and liquid foil.
  • After drying, cover the area with tiles or a mosaic.

Simplified installation instructions with technical drawings and advice can be found in the instructions supplied with each package and on the product’s page.

Why is waterproofing a bathroom important? How to install a waterproofing isolation in your bathroom?

Waterproofing your bathroom protects it from moisture and flooding, and thus from the development of fungus and mold. Properly applied waterproofing makes the bathroom last longer without the necessary renovations. Waterproofing is laid in the bathing area (around the bathtub or shower enclosure) and at the washbasin, i.e. in places where there’s the most frequent contact with water, which can penetrate even through grout between the tiles. To create the waterproofing layer, you need: primer, liquid rubber, sealing mat/membrane, tapes, corners and pipe collars.

  • Apply liquid rubber on to the primed base.
  • When the rubber is still damp, apply a sealing membrane, tapes, corners and collar. Remember to make overlays so that there are no gaps. When the coating dries apply it once again.
  • The waterproofing is ready. After drying, you can lay the tiles.

How to install a fiberglass rope seal in a fireplace?

Having a sealed fireplace is very important. It protects your home from smoke and fire. Steigner offers ceramic sealing ropes and fiberglass tapes. Here is a brief description of the installation:

  • Thoroughly clean and dry the assembly site.
  • Apply a thin layer of heat-resistant glue,  ST-1000 adhesive from Steigner. If you are installing a self-adhesive fiberglass tape, skip this step.
  • Place the sealing rope onto the glue and press down. Be careful that the glue doesn’t come out from underneath the seal and creates stains.
  • Wait about 48 hours until the adhesive dries.

Remember that ceramic and fiberglass cords can irritate skin, eyes and respiratory tract. Be especially careful while handling them. Wear protective gloves before beginning the installation.

How to install a  garage threshold?

The garage door seal is a specifically profiled threshold (hence another name: garage threshold) made of EPDM, which secures the gap between the gate and the floor. Steigner offer includes two models designed in two different widths. The decision on which width to choose comes from the size of the gap.

  • Lower the garage door and slide the threshold into the gap.
  • Outline the shape of the gasket with a pencil or a pen.
  • Move the threshold away and open the garage door. Apply Bostik Fix glue from Jumbo Shop to the gasket bottom surface and the sides where it should meet the wall.
  • Apply the threshold on the drawn out outline and press firmly.
  • Let it dry.
