Discover fiberglass sealing ropes, tapes and ceramic sealants that effectively protect fireplace doors, stoves, boilers and fire doors. These products are available in various sizes, lengths and colours. Sealants have different properties, so check before choosing.
Safety above all! Fireplaces, BBQ grills and fire doors are particularly exposed to heat, so they must be secured with heat-resistant materials. The same principle applies to fiberglass sealing ropes, which are to effectively protect all openings from smoke and fire.
Steigner sealing ropes guarantee reliable protection. Their main asset is durability. Depending on the type, the seal is resistant to temperatures up to 550°C or 1022°F (fiberglass ropes) or up to 1260°C or 2300°F (ceramic ropes).
Steigner offers ropes and tapes available in various sizes, so choosing the right seal is really easy. If you do not know yet which thickness you need, measure the hole you want to protect. Remember that for the seal to fill its role, it can not be too thick or too thin.
Glue is necessary in rope installation. It also has to be resistant to high temperatures. Steigner’s ST-1000 adhesive easily withstands temperatures up to 950°C or 1742°F. The adhesive is effective and durable. Glued on sealing rope does not move or lose its properties. Due to its composition and use, the adhesive should be stored in a closed, dark place, out of reach of children. Use it as intended.
It is possible to purchase a sealing rope and adhesive separately or in a set. If the set is selected, the quantity of adhesive attached depends on the quantity of rope ordered, for example, ordering 5 m of 6 × 6 mm thick rope, the amount of adhesive needed is 90 ml (5 × 15 mm). All information is included in the table.
Sealing rope can be made of fiberglass or aluminosilicate fibers (ceramic). Both materials are characterized by very good insulating properties, but there are some differences between them.
Ceramic cord is much more resistant to high temperatures (up to 1260°C or 2300°F) and hot flushes (up to 1800°C or 3272°F). Due to its square cross section it adheres better to the surface, and its assembly is simpler.
Fiberglass rope can tolerate temperatures up to 550°C or 1022°F, softening only at 840°C or 1544°F. A round shape of the rope makes the installation harder and more arduous. Sealing tapes from Steigner are self-adhesive.
Both ropes can be irritating when in close contact with skin, eyes or respiratory tract. The use of protective gloves and googles is recommended during installation. Ceramic ropes are less dusty than fiberglass seals.
